A new link road is set to bring relief from mounting traffic congestion in Bandikui town, Dausa district, Rajasthan. The Nandera-Pichupada link road, stretching approximately 8.5 kilometres, is expected to be built at a cost of around ₹25 crore.
The project, proposed under the vision of local MLA Bhagchand Saini Tankda, is expected to begin soon. The Public Works Department (PWD) has completed the tender process and issued the tender to a construction company. Preparations are now underway to issue the work order, which is expected within the next couple of days.
The road will not merely connect two points as a link road but will also serve as a potential bypass for Bandikui city. It is expected to significantly improve rural connectivity while easing traffic management within the town.
Nine-month completion target, 70-metre bridge planned
The link road is targeted for completion within approximately nine months. It will be built as a double-lane road with 7-metre-wide asphalting. A bridge of around 70 metres will also be constructed along the route. Once complete, the road will improve connectivity for rural areas and give Bandikui city a bypass option.
Construction to proceed alongside compensation process
Compensation is yet to be settled for around 5.5 kilometres of the road’s stretch. The department will complete the process of paying affected landowners compensation under Section 19. Construction on this stretch will proceed only after the compensation process is completed. Meanwhile, around 3 kilometres of the route falls on government land, where work can begin soon.
Work to start first on government land stretch
The PWD plans to begin construction first on the roughly 3-kilometre stretch that falls on government land. During this period, the compensation process for the remaining 5.5-kilometre stretch will run in parallel, reducing the likelihood of delays to the overall project caused by land-related procedures.
Direct benefit for more than a dozen villages
The link road, starting from Nandera, will pass through Anantwada, Haripura, Bhandeda, Kanch Ki Dhani, Pamadi, Sunagadi, Jhanjha Ki Dhani and Aamli before reaching Pichupada. This will provide improved connectivity to more than a dozen surrounding villages.
Less need to pass through the town centre
Once the new road is built, residents of these areas will get a direct alternative route to reach Badiyal Kalan, Baijupada, Mandawar and the Kathumar mega highway. Vehicles will have the option of reaching the Alwar-Sikandra mega highway via the bypass instead of passing through Bandikui town’s main roads, which is expected to ease traffic pressure and congestion on the town’s principal routes.
Foundation laying planned before the model code of conduct
With the tender process complete, the work order is now awaited. If the process proceeds on schedule, the PWD may lay the foundation stone for the Nandera-Pichupada link road before the election model code of conduct comes into effect.

“The foundation stone for the Nandera-Pichupada link road can be laid soon. The tender process for this has been completed, and preparations for land acquisition are also in full swing. Around ₹25 crore will be spent on the construction of this link road. This road will not only connect several villages but will also give Bandikui city a new option for traffic movement. In the times ahead, this link road will prove significant for the connectivity and traffic management of the region,” said Raju Bairwa, Executive Engineer, PWD, Bandikui.
